Introducing ourselves and Moss Side Farm

mosssidefarm

Lakeland Ponies is run by myself, Louise Thompson, with help from my partner, John Robinson, together with our family at Moss Side Farm.

Moss Side Farm is in the southern end of the Lake District National Park.  It is a traditional Lakeland Farm with cattle, sheep, fell ponies, dogs, cats and hens.  It has been in John's family for many years.  The farm is just 2 miles from the historic and pictuesque town of Broughton-in-Furness.  From the farm it is just 25 minutes scenic walk to Broughton's ancient square along the old Foxfield to Coniston Railway, that has been converted into a footpath/bridleway.  (I sometimes bring my daughter back from school this way on one of the ponies.)  Broughton has 4 typical local pubs, an excellent butchers, greengrocers and deli, a bakery, bank, post office (with cash machine), tourist information office, outdoor shop, craft shop, children's play area and two cafes.

Additional Accommodation at Moss Side Farm

As well as running Lakeland Pack Ponies we also have:-

  • A luxury holiday cottage that sleeps 6
  • A campsite
  • Two old railway carriages converted into comfortable accommodation
  • Accommodation for your own horses and ponies (if you are staying at the farm)
